History
This all began in Boston back in 2010, inspired by Cpl. Vincent Mannion Brodeur in 2011, one of the most severely wounded veterans in the nation. Vinnie is the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. All proceeds from Vinnie’s Run went to creating a handicapped accessible living space for Vinnie. Every year since, Boston’s Wounded Vet Run is dedicated to different veterans wounded in battle. Proceeds raised throughout the year go towards housing modifications, recreational objects, transportation needs, basic living items, and other things that help improve the quality of life for a wounded war hero.
Word began to spread about the cause and mission of the Boston Wounded Vet Run inspiring other states across the nation to support their local heroes. In 2015 Joe, Megan and David Chapa brought the vision to life in Colorado. Since its inception the Colorado Wounded Vet Run has upheld the mission to help and honor local heroes. All money raised benefits the selected wounded veteran(s) and/or charities of their choosing for the current year.
Within the Colorado Wounded Vet Run not a single director, staff member, or volunteer gets paid a dime. Every dollar raised goes directly to this year’s honoree(s) or toward operations costs (these are minimal). Colorado Wounded Vet Run is a 501c3 Non-Profit charity (Tax ID: 47-3428571).
